Greener Initiative
Sustainability Garden
|
As
part of the "Greener" Initiative we created a sustainability garden by
building garden beds for fruit, vegetables and flowering plants which are
maintained by a dedicated group of teachers, parents and students. This
garden is situated behind the gateway
sculptures and will be invaluable in helping to teach our
students about sustainability with plans to sell our produce. Our
first produce picked was Cos Lettuce which we sold for $2.00 each.

We would
like to give a big thank you to the Diamond Creek Rotary Club for donating a
garden shed, a water tank and picnic
tables for our garden

Our vegie garden has sprung to life
again
thanks to Janine Green bringing lovely seedlings for each grade level to
plant. Grade Prep are brightening our garden by growing beautiful primulas
and pansies; Grade One is looking forward to nibbling on their peas and
lettuce; Grade Two have plenty of cooking options with growing their
celery and leek; Grade Three are getting spicey with spinach and red
onion; Grade Four can go raw salads or stir fry
with
their pak choy and spring onions; Grade Five’s planter box will be
overflowing goodness of silverbeet and lettuce, and; Grade Six will be
cooking up a storm with the delights of broccoli and zucchini! We are
always looking for helpers, and thank you to those people who have already
been in this year giving a hand. If anyone else would like to be a part of
our projects and lend a hand, contact Tamsin Buic (Grade 1) or Janine
Green (PE/Grade 6), or
